Contains records of the Ohio National Guard, including muster rolls, certificates of election of officers, oaths of office, court martial records, medical department examinations, ordnance records, etc. Each muster roll entry includes recruit's name, age, height, eye color, hair color, complexion, birthplace, period of enlistment, occupation, place of residence, marital status, enrollment date, and by whom enrolled.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio. The General Assembly authorized the purchase of glass cases to display battle flags in the Statehouse.
